Typical Day at The Vondelpark Amsterdam
Silk Scarves Make Travel Effortless
I love traveling! I am a chameleon. I am in love with the experience of trying out the lifestyle of places I want to explore. It is the everyday life of the people who live there that inspires me. I am intrigued by what the natives do best. My favorite way to travel is like a voyeur on a relaxing mission. I set out with a mission to discover their design, art and style. I must try the foods they eat vs. what they serve. From there the architecture, their homes, their fashion, their lifestyle, and learning about their values and their priorities is what it is all about for me.
Steps Away From the Amsterdam Townhouse we Stayed In was the Central Park of Amsterdam “The Vondolpark”
Of course, I love the museums and experiencing their iconic attractions but I am very selective in choosing the ones that I am really interested in visiting and the rest I feel no obligation to visit.
I feel privileged to be able to spend 4-5 weeks at a time in country or a city of interest and then going out exploring so I can truly get a sense of life wherever I am. No pressure of a tourists’ travel itinerary is the ultimate treat for me. While I am on a trip like this, I spend time exploring, being at home and working on new designs. While I enjoy a 5 star hotel and resort living for short stays, for a longer stay I prefer to stay in beautiful villas and very well done private homes.
So for Amsterdam, I loved staying in this wonderful townhouse steps from the park. I loved the challenge of pretending to be Dutch and riding bikes from one part of Amsterdam to another. This is my bike. I am just learning to get my nerve up to explore the other side of Jordan. I am in the Vondelpark. By the way, the Vondelpark similar to New York’s ‘Central Park’. It is a large green setting with ponds, lakes, cafes, restaurants and the Vondeltuin where you can rent in line skates. The Filmmuseum was in a historical building in the park prior to its’ moving to an on canal location. If you have an interest in architecture or film, this cool spot is not to missed. The park is in the Old South. If you are up for some quiet and relaxing, you will find it here. This destination for everyone young and older and offers entertainment all day through the late evenings.
You can pack light! Remember if you are in a villa/home most likely you will have a laundry room and or the nearby services of a local Dry Cleaner. So pack lots of scarves, and turn them into a belt, head coverings for a day on the canal, blouses and of course shawls, covers and jewelry accessories.
